Well she wanted a flat vintage kinda logo, so in the style of the vintage fibe one color matched more, in my opinion of course :)

I have to say, I really think you nailed the concept of what a "logo" really should be with this.

I will suggest rounding off the front part of the lowercase "a" off where it sticks out. If there were another lowercase letter leading into it, that's where it would connect. I don't think it's necessary and it will help the "a" read a bit better.
