From the Greek meaning "she-goat" the Chimera is a fire-breathing creature that has the body of a goat, the head of a lion and the tail of a serpent.  Some sources have represented the Chimera with three heads (the lion's head as the main, then the goat's head sprouted from its back, and the serpent's or Dragon’s head on its tail), but the popular myth tells of the single, fire-vomiting head. The very unlikely aspect of the chimera has gradually turned its name into a synonym of a vain dream.

At a later date, portraits of her reveals that her teeth were transformed into the tusks of a wild boar, her black tongue protuded and became too large for her mouth, her hands became brazen claws and her wings were changed into serpents. Physically, the manticore was know as having the body of a red lion, the face and ears of a blue eyes human and a tail ending in a sting like that of a scorpion. The manticore was also attributed with having a voice that was the mixture of pipes and a trumpet. The beast is very swift and makes very powerful leaps. The manticore is reputed to roam in the jungles of India, and is known to have an appetite for humans. Like its cousin, the Sphinx, it would often challenge its prey with riddles before killing.

The name basilisk comes from the Greek basileus, which means king. The basilisk was the King of the snakes and the most poisonous creature on earth. His appearance has always been a matter of dispute since there is no way to see a basilisk and survive. Looking at it, according to legend, brings death.

There are many, many descriptions of this legendary bird. Some describe the phoenix as an eagle-sized bird; half eagle and half pheasant. Others say it is heron-like or a conglomeration of the most beautiful parts of all the birds in the world.

Made by calebcleveland

Her head still remained that of a beautiful enchantress but her body is that of an animal which has the claws of a cat in its front legs and a cow’s cloven hooves at the back. Some ancient writings describe her with a serpentine lower body.

The Dryad
Dryad Forest by Jakdaw
Made by Jakdaw

Dryads are ancient protectors, tasked with forever guarding the natural wonder of the six worlds. A dryad will look very much like a human woman, with the exception of her skin color, which is dark brown like the bark of a tree, and her hair, which is long, green, and entwined with numerous leaves. A Dryad is a lovely vision of nature's beauty with a fierce protection instinct for her mother forest.
